Oppenheimer, Franz
(1864-1943)
   German economist and sociologist. He was born in Berlin. From 1919 to 1929 he was a professor of sociology at the University of Frankfurt am Main. After Hitler's rise to power, he taught at the Hochschule fur die Wissenschaft des Judentums in Berlin. In 1938 he settled in the US. He was associated with the Zionist movement, and the Merh avyah co-operative settlement in Palestine was founded in accordance with his theories.
